1. I would opt out. The earnings from Medium aren't enough for a 10% boost to make opting in worth it knowing how much AI companies are making on the other end profiting off of the hard work of writers and artists across the internet.

2. Also no. We need to stop destroying the attention spans of people. Read the thing, not an AI summary that may not even be accurate and certainly may not capture the essence and style of the writer.

I applaud Medium for taking a stance of being a place for human writers. It makes the monthly subscription fee feel worth the price from an ethical standpoint. But if that stance were to change, I would likely leave the platform.
