"Permanent focus mode" is such a good descriptor! I could never put a finger on why I feel so much more productive at writing on my iPad + keyboard than on my laptop, and I think you've hit the nail on the head there: It's much harder to get distracted with the single app view (and I rarely have more than one app displayed at a time).
